UFC middleweight Julian Marquez had no idea how much he was going to spend fighting at UFC Vegas 40.
Many UFC fighters are concerned with the promotion’s current pay model for how they compensate their athletes. For middleweight Julian Marquez, money is one of the last things on his mind to enter UFC Vegas 40.
Marquez will face up-and-comer Jordan Wright and get a chance to extend his winning streak in the cage. He is coming off one-on-one wins over Maki Pitolo and Sam Elway. Marquez has earned performance bonuses in the past, but isn’t worried about his finances before his next bout.
Your UFC Vegas 40 . during pre-fight press conference, Marquez explained why money is not a priority for him.
“I never count for bonuses. I only count for wins,” said Marquez. “I am here to win. I kid you not, I didn’t even know how much I was going to spend for this fight. It’s a passion for me. Money is just extra. To exchange a certain amount of dollars to win, it just doesn’t belong.”

Marquez has a friendly personality outside the cage, but he has a killer inside. He earned a shot at the UFC after landing a brutal head kick during the 2017 season Dana White’s Contender Series.
If Marquez can make another impressive performance against Wright, he will more than likely earn another performance bonus check. But for them it is just a matter of securing one more victory.
